BRITANNICA ONLINE
An excellent beginning research tool to access objective information about both general and complex  subjects.  Provides images, videos and links to journals (such as Chemical Week and E Magazine) and other versions of the encyclopedia.

 

 

LAW INFO CHINA

Provides  access to English-language versions of Chinese legal documents. Their Laws & Regulations and Cases database is a broad selection of China's most important national and local laws and regulations as well as judicial interpretations issued by the Supreme People's Court. It is organized into 71 legal subjects including Agriculture, Energy, Environmental Protection, Fisheries, Forestry, Land, and Water Resources.

 

 

Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO)

A comprehensive source for research in international affairs. Publishes a wide range of scholarship back to 1991: Working papers from university research institutes,  foundation-funded research projects, proceedings, books, journals, case studies, policy briefs, etc.

 

 

CREDO REFERENCE (formerly XREFERPLUS)

A full-text searchable collection of 100 online reference books covering a  variety of subjects including law, science, technology, social science, geography, health, quotations, etc. Many articles contain images. Includes the “Concept Map” searching option.

 

EBRARY

A collection of thousands of online full-text books and other materials in a variety of subject areas. All are listed in JULIEN, but they can be searched full-text through the Ebrary site.

ENDANGERED SPECIES & WETLANDS REPORT  

Monthly Newsletter on cutting edge endangered species, wetlands and property rights law, along with full text of source documents and links to other materials.

ENVIRONMENT & ENERGY DAILY

A dozen reporters  on Capital Hill follow environmental and energy action , tracking environmental and energy-related activities in Congress.  Includes news stories, a Committee Schedule, and information about  hearings, bill introductions, floor actions, and  positions of key legislators.  E-mail updates available. Searchable archive back to 1996.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL LAW REPORTER  

Includes Litigation (10,000+ cases!) ; Federal Laws and Regulations; State, Administrative, and International Materials; Guidance & Policy Collection; Briefs & Pleadings; etc often as far as 1971. Daily Update of federal administrative developments with links to the Federal Register.  State News, International News, and the ELR Update which covers federal litigation and Congressional action. The News & Analysis Journal includes timely scholarly articles. 

 

ENVIRONMENT UNIVERSE

Environment Abstract is an index with summaries of thousands of interdisciplinary environmental articles. Environment Universe also includes full text of codes, regulations, case law, and agency actions as well as federal and state waste site data and hazardous materials information.

EXPANDED ACADEMIC ASAP
Index to  3,500 scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers – more than half with full text, many peer-reviewed, and many with graphics. All academic disciplines including social sciences, science and technology, are covered, going back to 1980.

 

GREENWIRE

Source for daily, balanced coverage of environmental and energy politics and policy. Special Reports and  Documents  including source material such as reports, briefs, complaints, judicial decisions,  studies, memos, letters, orders, etc. E-mail updates available. Back to 1996.

 

HEIN ONLINE

The place to find law review articles that precede coverage on Westlaw and Lexis. Scan “Overview of Collections” for a full list: includes the CFR back to 1938, Foreign & International Law Resources, Treaties and Agreements, Legal Classics, U.S. Federal Legislative History.

 

INFOTRAC ONEFILE

Index to 9,000 titles from mainstream to specialized for every popular and professional topic. Millions of articles are full-text, many with graphics. Updated daily. Goes back to 1980.

 

INSIDE EPA.COM  

Includes daily news, the “Weeks Top Stories”, “Hot Documents” and a database of special reports, policy papers, comments, draft and final regulations, court decisions, legislation, state proceedings, etc. Searchable archive back to 1998.

 

JSTOR

Full text non-law journals in a number of subject areas including Ecology, Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Populations Studies, Sociology, Statistics, etc.  Includes the Journal of Ecology back to 1913 and Ecology back to 1920.

 

LAND LETTER

Weekly  (Thursdays) newsletter providing  In-depth reporting on regulations, litigation, legislation, and analyses surrounding natural resource policy issues including  water resource allocation, energy development, forest management planning, Endangered Species Act disputes, wetlands regulations, etc.  Shares the Greenwire /E & E Daily searchable archive.

URBAN LAND INSTITUTE

ULI “initiates research that anticipates emerging land use trends and issues, proposing creative solutions based on that research”. Includes news, articles, case studies and links on urban land issues such as civic engagement, public policy, smart growth, sustainable development, transportation, urban design, development and regeneration, international urban land.  Some information free.
